Meet the Team
Friends of Clatterbridge is proud to have a team of dedicated and passionate individuals who work tirelessly to support patients and their families. Our team is made up of volunteers who share a common goal of raising funds for the hospital. We grateful for their hard work and commitment to our cause.

Dave Adams
President
Dave Adams was appointed 5th President of Clatterbridge Hospitals League of Friends (now Friends of Clatterbridge) in February 2020 and is proud to follow in the footsteps of some illustrious predecessors including Viscount Leverhulme. Dave served on the League's committee from 2008 to 2018 and is a past Vice Chairman and Vice President.
Dave’s other voluntary work has included 30 years hosting the Saturday morning magazine request show on Radio Clatterbridge which he now presents twice a month. Dave is a Past Chairman of the radio station and has held several other Trustee and committee roles.
Dave co-wrote interpretative materials for Wirral Borough Council before joining the Health and Safety Executive in 1988. Roles have included a high profile historic childhood leukaemia investigation at Sellafield, managing HSE’s Mentoring programme and policy lead for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
Dave has a keen interest in television history and an impressive home archive.

John Cox
Treasurer
My name is John Hastings Cox and I am a volunteer trustee for the Friends of Clatterbridge Hospitals on Wirral, Merseyside. I hold the position of Treasurer which mainly involves the banking of funds raised from collections and paying cheques for Grant requests that we, as a charity receive from time to time. I have held this position for almost four years. It is necessary for me to keep accounts which are regularly audited.
Prior to volunteering for the Friends of Clatterbridge, I retired as a Senior Officer from Merseyside Fire and Rescue service and am a Graduate Member of The Institute of Fire Engineers.
I like to think that I am a very organised person and have always kept a well-ordered record of my personal accounts and finances which has proved invaluable in respect of the Friends finances.
In my spare time, I enjoy gardening, walking (mainly on the flat these days) and travel. I also enjoy basic DIY although I do try to avoid decorating which I cannot stand.
Clatterbridge Hospitals are very dear to my heart, my Mother was treated as a patient in the late 1960’s, my elder son was treated as a patient, my younger son was born there and unfortunately my late wife was also treated there as a patient. On each and every occasion, the Hospital was absolutely fantastic and volunteering, I hope, might go some way in repaying the Hospital for all they have done.

Mark Spiers
Vice President
Hello, my name is Mark Spiers.
I work as a Project Manager and Operational Strategist for an international technology organisation finding efficiency savings at sites throughout the world.
I’ve been a volunteer for the Friends of Clatterbridge for nearly five years and the Vice-President for the last two. I joined the group so I could give something back to a hospital that did so much to help one of my relatives recover from a serious condition some years ago and I feel giving the time and commitment in helping contribute to raising funds hugely worthwhile.
Friends of Clatterbridge are active in all areas of the Hospital, working alongside personnel of WUTH in underpinning and supporting valuable causes in both the Departments and Wards and testimonials reflect that this makes a huge difference to people at a time when they are at their most vulnerable.
I’m proud to be able to say that my contribution, together with the efforts of the Friends of Clatterbridge, does make a difference

Amanda Rummery
Trustee & Chair
My name is Amanda Rummery and I have been involved with the Friends of Clatterbridge for the last eight years, initially as a Committee member and for the last six years as a Trustee and Chair.
Prior to my time as a volunteer I served for almost forty years in the Public Sector, across several Government Departments, mainly involved in Government Procurement.
Upon retirement I took up two voluntary roles; one with a national Charity and also with a local Charity, Clatterbridge Hospitals League of Friends, as is was then known.
My role with the Friends of Clatterbridge is very important to me, as I am a firm believer that if you are able to then you should give something back to your local community.
The role of Chair does require, at times, a degree of tact and diplomacy and I would like to think that I have achieved this aspect by guiding the Friends of Clatterbridge through positive change over the last few years.
In my spare time I love travelling, walking, reading and Art History, sometimes all at once!
Here to support you...
